Elsa Explorer by Packraft is a dynamic adventure designed for those who want to explore the Elsa River in an immersive and engaging way. On board your packraft — a special, ultra-lightweight and easy-to-handle single-person inflatable craft — you will explore one of the most scenic sections of the natural park.

The itinerary follows the Elsa river downstream all the way to our base in San Marziale. During the descent, you will be completely immersed in a wild and lush environment, passing beneath a dense canopy of trees and paddling at water level through currents, cool springs and lively limestone rapids.

Thanks to the stability of the packraft, even those with no previous experience can confidently enjoy handling their own craft, experiencing the excitement of navigating small drops and the chance to take a refreshing swim in the river’s crystal-clear natural pools.

The excursion is led by Environmental Hiking Guides (GAE) authorized by the Tuscany Region. They ensure maximum safety throughout the route, provide all the necessary technical support, and introduce participants to the biological, geological and environmental features of the Elsa River ANPIL protected area.

Program

Step 1 - Gathering. . .

Meeting point in San Marziale, where participants will receive their single-person packrafts, helmets and life jackets, followed by a technical briefing on land.

Step 2 - Departure. . .

Transfer to the launch point and enter the water on the Elsa River.

Step 3 - During. . .

Guided descent along the Elsa River, navigating dynamic sections and rapids, with short stops to observe the local flora and fauna.

Step 4-Return. . .

Arrival directly at our base in San Marziale, return of the equipment and final farewell.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is it necessary to have experience with packraft?

No, the excursion is also suitable for beginners. The route is suitable for everyone and only requires basic motor skills.

Can I participate alone?

Yes, packrafting is an individual activity. Even solo travelers can participate without any problems.

Do children go on their own in the packraft?

Children up to 8 years old must ride in the packraft together with a parent. Please indicate the child’s age when booking.

What happens in case of a weather alert or flood?

The excursion will be postponed or refunded in case of unsafe weather/river conditions.
